Re: What's the best way to fix an old pump?

Do you have trouble with salt in you stream or fresh water sources? Gene No, but further down I expect there's some incursion at high tide. As the stream wanders, I'm about a quarter-mile upstream from any salt water. My well is excellent, good recovery, great water with no filtering/treatment nece...

What's the best way to fix an old pump?

Simple: Buy a new one. I have a little plastic Homelite 2-stroke powered pump that I use to pull water out of the stream to water the garden when it gets dry. Had it for years, a little slow but works good. wg1.jpg wg2.jpg Hauled it out Tuesday as things were getting dusty and spent an hour trying t...

out.jpg There is a drainage ditch that runs right next to my house. Several years ago, I had a 20 foot culvert installed near the road so I could get between my front and side yards without going out into the road. Works perfectly, but the bozos that installed it used ditch spoil as backfill and ca...

Re: STO...

I like that dump wagon set up. I have an old John Deere farm wagon, with hoist, but of course, have to have it hooked to the tractor for hydraulics. Gene That went through a couple of iterations before I got it right, but it works slick now. Do wish I'd designed in a little more dump angle, but it ...

Re: On the plane again

Gawd, makes me tired just thinking about a trip like that. Did too many when I was in Uncle Sam's Canoe Club.

Forum Bills Due

It's that time again, folks. I need a total of $100 to pay the annual fee for web hosting and security key for this site.

Last time nearly the entire amount came out of Jim's pocket and that just ain't right.

My mailing address is posted in the "Contacting Me" thread here.

Small Time Operator. fill.jpg The State DOT cleaned out a ditch across the road from me, and I managed to get all the spoil - about 60 yards, more or less. 6 dump truck loads in any event. sto1.jpg I put the rock bucket (skeleton bucket) on the Cabota and used it to screen out the big chunks of root...

Re: Back in the chicken business ( 6 laying hens)

Due to age and predation, I'm down to 6 myself and get 3 eggs on a good day. I tried to convince Maw to let nature take it's course and get out of the chicken biz entirely, but she's not having it. A lady a couple of towns away turns over her flock every year and sells the 2 year old hens pretty rea...
