Re: Been a tough year.

You are right, time is marching on for the generation ahead of us and for our generation too.

I have one remaining uncle, my wife has one remaining aunt. Both are in their 90's.
When all of that generation are gone, guess who is next? :?

Best thoughts and prayers for you and your family.

Re: Patria

When I first heard of the reports of the recent hurricane, I wondered if you would be seeing any of it.
Sorry to hear that it visited you, but glad to hear that you came through it OK.

Re: Site security warning...

All is well here boss. Got "HTTP" in the url line for a few days, but now it says "HTTPS", which I think means that my browser recognizes the site certificate.

Re: Metal working lathes for clock repair...thoughts?

We had an old guy at work who worked at Hamilton Watch until they closed down. He made small parts on a little lathe that he brought with him. I don't know what it would swing, but it couldn't have been more than an inch or two. I don't know if it was considered a true watchmakers lathe, but it was ...

Re: Getting old, me, letting stuff go

And even if I did, Maw would want a new house before I got a new shop... Now, that just narrow minded. ;) :D Seriously, I have given this very subject a lot of thought lately. I am past the days when I was in acquisition mode, now I'm wondering what to do with it all. I doubt my toys mean much to m...

Re: Hey 14 and others

Only ones I've seen were at shows where people were using them like an ATV to get around.
They are not legal on the road in PA, and they can't be made road legal.

Re: Dangedest thing!

I never heard of a cylinder wall leaking like that. It doesn't sound natural. I'd be real wary of a cylinder that leaked oil out through the cylinder walls. If those pinholes or cracks decide to open up some more, you could get an oil bath, or get hit with flying pieces, depending on how violently i...
