Another benefit of being retired

Being old and retired means A) I have my own shop, and B) There are no kids around, therefore C) I'm the only one that uses it. That means I can take something complex apart, lay it out in exploded view on my bench, come back to it hours, days or weeks later, AND IT'S STILL THERE, JUST LIKE I LEFT I...

Re: A salute to Vets on Veteran's Day

Thanks, and right back at ya.

Re: I'll see if this generates any interest

I've been making lawn art for years.

The "business" part of it has pretty much eluded me tho. Everybody comments "how cute!" but nobody reaches for their wallet.

Re: Picked up my annual "Winter Project".

cxshop.jpg Today's task was to make room in my heated shop to wedge the bike in so I have a warm place to work on it. The garage is convenient to the house but unheated and all my tools are in the shop anyway. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I had plenty of room once I moved the welding tab...

Re: Picked up my annual "Winter Project".

Well, first things first... 1. Found a forum full of guys that like that series of Hondas and looks like a good forum with knowledgeable and helpful folks. 2. From that forum, found a PDF download of the official Honda factory Workshop Manual for it. 3. From another source, found recommendations for...

Picked up my annual "Winter Project".

cx1.jpg 1983 Honda CX650. Something to tinker with over the Winter. Not a huge fan of the "Special" cruiser/low rider look that was so popular back then, thinking of creating as much of a cafe' or flat tracker look as I can within the limits of my skill and budget. Anybody interested in a...

Re: Why is fruitcake so maligned?

I haven't had fruitcake in many, many years. Probably not since I joined the Navy and left the farm. I did love the home-made ones from Aunts and other relatives. And yes, rum-soaked or at least rum flavored. Not sure where I'd even get one these days, and it would have to be commercial. I suspect t...
