Re: Stick welder

Striking an arc can be aggravating. Different techniques work with different rods.

I find that "scratching" rather than tapping or poking works better for me. New, clean, dry rod helps too. Also easier at higher amperage, at least for me.

Re: Growing tomatos from seed

I hadn't thought of it that way, B.

And for my next stoopid money-losing project...

plow.jpg My daughter lives alone and has a driveway about 1/2 mile long. Her regular plow guy has given up plowing and she was stretching the budget to pay him anyway. Got lucky this year with very little snow, but that can change in a heartbeat. So when she was offered the pictured truck as a free...

Re: Growing tomatos from seed

Leggy is usually too much light.

And yup, I'd get them separated as soon as they're big enough to take the stress.

Remember Boys and Girls, technology is here to make our life easier!

Had to replace my cell (long, embarrassing story...) and forgot I hadn't paired it to my 2013 Tundra. Pairing it to my 2020 RAV4 was a piece of cake. Truck, not so much. Figuring out how to do it in the first place was great fun. The manual gives the steps but fails to mention it's done with voice c...

Re: Stick welder

Sounds good! I hope you've got a BIG generator. Welders draw a lot of power, especially when striking the arc.

Re: Stick welder

Hobart Stickmate Lincoln "Tombstone" Forney Cheapo Welders in your price range are likely to be AC only which isn't a problem, it just limits what rods you can use successfully. The Hobart has a solid reputation and you may be able to shop around and do a little better on the price. The L...
