Re: Picked up my annual "Winter Project".

muff1.jpg muff2.jpg This is what the damage to the mufflers looks like after excavating the worst of the rust. It's where the inner baffle is welded to the outer cone. muff3.jpg I patched it with JB Weld Extreme Temperature exhaust repair paste. Like an epoxy, but water based and good (according to...

Re: Picked up my annual "Winter Project".

mc1.jpg This is the master cylinder for the front disk brake with the new sight glass installed. The MC worked okay after a thorough cleaning, and it was MUCH cheaper to replace the sight glass than the whole MC. You can see where I didn't get all the silicone off from my attempt to seal the old on...

Re: Picked up my annual "Winter Project".

There are two more document-worthy (if you're REALLY desperate for entertainment...) projects in the works. 1 - The master cylinder has a sight glass so you can check fluid level without removing the cover. It's plastic, crazed and leaking and the mounting ring is rusted out. I was pointed to some r...

Re: Picked up my annual "Winter Project".

Today's task was to try out an idea I had to replace the missing side panels on the bike. They ARE available used...for $200...per side... :o  The CFO here at Cheap Charlie's Motorcycle Emporium ain't gonna go for that. On a rare and valuable bike? Sure. On a mass-produced Honda that won't re...

Re: New ATF rule comment period is ending

I'm fine with posting that here.

With the ATF...not so much...they need to be reined in, along with a host of other government agencies.

https://youtu.be/rUFjdm8hiP0?si=1ZgpXV_rz9zhmCM3 Link to the video of first start on the project. Apologies for the noise, had a fan running to clear the fumes out of the shop. Also just a quick and dirty hand-held phone video so not great quality. So far I've rebuilt the carbs, replaced all the o ...

Got the big monitor set up, but may have to rethink the positioning. It's pretty close to the lathe (dust/debris) and right in front of the thermostat (may affect set point). Problem is, there's not a better place for it that leaps to mind...

Geeking out

I've bitched as much as anyone about technology, but some aspects of it are so handy, I'd hate to do without. Firstly, I bought a new TV as the old one was having software issues with the streaming apps and pissing me off, so I replaced it. The new one works perfectly AND has built-in bluetooth. As ...
