My last day of regular work is tomorrow

Post by Bkeepr » Thu Jan 02, 2020 11:22 am

Tomorrow I'll walk out of the office for the last time. I thought it'd be a complete, cut all ties retirement, but my boss just asked me to teleconsult for awhile to answer questions and give advice. It is hard not to take an offer like that, but we'll see.

I have mixed feelings. I got my first out-of-the-home job when I was 13, and have worked ever since. I have to say, this day sure has come quick.

But I am ready, have lots of stuff I want to do, and the day job became pure drudgery in the last 6 months or so.

So we'll see how it works out...

Congratulations! You will be joining an elite corps of old farts. ;)

It will feel weird not going to work every day for awhile.
It just won't feel right at first, but trust me, you will get used to it. 8-)

What Dave said.

Most days, I can't figure out how I had time to hold down a job!

Congrats
Been exactly a year for me.
Bring those dogs to western Iowa and get them on some wild birds. Barring horrible winters or bad spring nesting we should have another 5 years of excellent hunting, then the last big flush of CRP expires.Image

thanks, everyone. So far, so good! :D

iasteve-- is that an invitation???

Yes, putting the dogs to work on wild birds somewhere has long been on my list of things to do, I just haven't had time before. Now I hope I will be able to do that next season. (Assuming I get the new pup under control by then. So far, she's got a good nose and very little self-control. But that's better than the other way around!)

Sure is
We have a lot more birds than hunters

I have a 7 month old pup that the light hasn't quite come on yet.

Don't you just love it when the light does come on, though?? There's something magical about it...

What kind of pup do you have? Is he/she the only one, or just the newest in your home?

By the way, I'd love to take you up on it, all I've ever hunted is farm-raised birds and I'd love to try some wild ones before I'm too old.

German Shorthair. Mother pictured belongs to my son. Father pictured belongs to son in law. I've had dogs before but right now just have the pup.
