What's up with socks

Post by Dieselrider » Fri Feb 14, 2020 7:49 am

Dear Abby: I Used to get cotton socks that felt thick and stayed in place on my feet. Now they sell these stretchy thin things that slide all around on my feet. Does anyone have a brand or type they really like that are 100 % cotton socks? These feel like the old black army dress socks. Way too thin for my liking.

Amazon has some cotton "cushion" socks that are pretty comfy, or were when I used them.

I've gone to Merino wool blend year around. Breathe well, feet don't sweat, warm in the Winter, comfy in the Summer.

Fawteen, would you be so kind as to enlighten me and others as to where you can purchase said Merino wool socks?

I get these from Amazon.

Just noticed it says "Womens" but they work on my size 11/12 gunboats so...

Well, ya gets what ya pays for.

If you're lucky.

I find they wear much longer than the China Mart tube socks so I don't mind spending the money.

I've also found Merino blend socks at my local-ish military surplus store. MUCH cheaper and so far I'm pleased with them.

I have been using the Dickies from Wallymart. Like them OK. Not wonderful, but good.

Don't know nuttin' 'bout no high priced merlino wool socks, but I have been wearing Gold Toe socks for years and the last of them I bought ain't like the ones I been getting for the past 25 years, even though they are 'posed to be the same. :x

I'm thinking they changed to a different third world slave labor camp supplier.

Wish they would go back to the old one. :|

Red Dave, I agree. Always use Gold toe before. They had a type make with coconut fiber. But then they discontinued those, and from there on they were junk. Then the outlet store that sold them folded so I have not used them in 8 or 10 years.
