compressor question

Post by Dieselrider » Sat Sep 05, 2020 9:59 pm

Got a 60 gallon 5hp compressor in the shop now. It seems to make a lot of water in the line. I drain the tank of water every couple days but, still seems to get water into the lines. Would a automatic water drain set up at the bottom of the tank help? I do not currently have any drip legs on the line coming out of the compressor. I want to install them once I have things in the shop arranged to final set up. Any one experience this before? Thanks

A GOOD automatic drain (read: NOT Harbor Freight cheapie) will help. Drip legs will help. In-line oil/water filters will help.

However, when it's hot/humid out, you'll get damp air no matter what you do, short of a very, VERY expensive air refrigeration unit.

I am getting ready to build a new shop. Never had "piped air", always just drug the hose around. Looking forward to a real nice system. Anything you learn will help me. Learn lots !!
