I want to redo the trim around the doors on the garage and replace the seals.

I originally trimmed it in pine and used Cabot white stain thinking it would last better than paint. Might have, but looks like crap now and a re-stain a couple of years ago didn't last at all. I built the garage 28 years ago so I guess I really shouldn't complain too much.

The bottom rubber seals on the doors are all shot and the brush seals I used on the sides and top never did work worth a damn.

I just priced out materials to replace all the trim with PVC lumber (no painting!) and new threshhold, top and side seals.

$200 per door. There are 4 doors. Ow. Guess I'll do one a month between now and snow.

I replaced some rotted trim on my porch last year with the PVC stuff. Pricey, but no painting, easy to use, and so far I like the way it is holding up.
