Brake job

Post by Bernie/MA » Thu Aug 08, 2019 9:26 am

My '01 rotted out Dodge is auto so I'm fixing it up to drive because of my bad left leg. Had a guy do the brakes yesterday. One line had busted so he replaced 'em all. Four trips for parts and $100 later I shouldn't have to do 'em again. He worked four hours @10 he asked. I gave him 50. Now to get the kid to help me patch holes in the cab. The bed is past fixing.

$10/hr?

Wow, he cut you a heck of a deal!

I'm a cheap Esso Bee and I charge $25.

Does Mass have inspections? If so, how tough are they? Getting tougher every year up here, especially if you have commercial tags.

Pretty tough. No rot/holes in the tin. Also frame rot and ball joints. E-brake has to work, all lights (running), etc. I've seen vehicles on the way to WI that would never pass here.

Does Ma. have farm plates? In Ct. you have to prove you get some income off your place to qualify. Don't have to be inspected.

Yeah, I've had a farm plate since the 50s. Still has to be inspected and they came and checked out the cows. After I moved up here on Wendell hill they happened to come on a snowy day and the postmaster where they stopped for directions vouched that I was a farmer and they'd never get up the mountain. Cows had been gone for 3 years. All was ok.
