Last try

Post by Bernie/MA » Mon Sep 02, 2019 9:34 am

That V4 still isn't running right. Yesterday I took all the plugs out and poured about a cup of MM oil into each cylinder. Gotta be sticking valves and that should help. I won't be mowing for a few days so I'll do it at least once more. Spun it over a few times with the crank too. Only made another 50 bales because it got too late to try to mow more Saturday. When the rpms drop the cutterbar plugs if I can't stop in time. My helper rides with me cause my old bones can't hop off and unplug it. Another 50 bales and I'll be done first cut and start second.

I had a Kohler single cylinder that had a sticking valve. I used some Marvel Mystery Oil in the crankcase and the gas. Worked for several years. Eventually I rebuilt the engine and replaced the valve, but MMO is the real deal.

My dad was a big believer in that. I may have some old cans setting around,

Finally got a few days of sun. Mowed for half an hour before it started running rough, starting second today. First cut is done.
