Remington 572 question.

I have a old style 572. As far as I know they all have aluminum alloy receivers. The old style does have a few different shaped parts

Does your seem to function properly? No binding?

Haven't had any problem. I purchased it from a gunsmith and he did a little repairs before I got it

Solved part of the mystery. Those aluminum receivers came out in several colors. Brown, Green and cant remember the other one. Anyway, I can see where someone buffed this one out to make it shiny aluminum. Found a few spots of green, real faint.
