Made an appoinent

Post by Bernie/MA » Thu Sep 12, 2019 2:44 pm

I'm going to get my hip replaced Nov 12., left side. Had the riight done in 2011. Made 39 bales second cut yesterday,5 acres to go. Doc kinda raised his eyebrows when I told him I had hay to finish in Oct. L'll be 84 next week.

Good for you--on getting the appointment, and for making hay at 84. One of my neighbors "retired" and leased his farm for a couple of years while somebody else worked it. After 2 or 3 years of watching the guy, he asked his wife if she'd mind if he got rid of the lease and started farming again. She told him no, she was surprised he hadn't asked before because he was so miserable watching somebody else on his land.

So, in his mid-80s he started farming again, running cattle and around 500 acres of hay fields.

He personally made hay into his early 90s...and is another of my heroes.

Good luck on the October hay, and on the surgery.

Good for you Bernie! I had a hip replacement done in 2003! Amazing the things they
can do.
