NORECO

Post by Jim @ Jawa »

That's Negros Oriental electric company. The scheduled 12 hour power outage for today lasted 13 hours and 45 minutes. Standby generator actually ran out of fuel and I had to go out there and give it some more of that five dollars a gallon gasoline. We were running the gas generator because the standby generator, the new Chinese diesel decided to take a shit Friday after the parts house close. All day Sunday scheduled power outages happen almost every Sunday. @#$%^&* while I was picking up a gas can with about 3 gallons of fuel in it my very old back decided to kick me in the ass man that hurt. :( my back that is.

The new place we are moving to does not have a generator. We have gotten spoiled with our Generac. It is all automatic, and hooked into a 500 gallon propane tank. We have live here 8 years, and never filled the tank, and I believe it is still around 60% full. That reminds me, I need to go check it. We are definitely going to have to put one in this new place. The one we have now is 16 Kw. I think we will move up to the 22Kw.

Gene

Ps. Take care of that back. Jack Daniels will help.

In the Philippines, blackouts are called BROWN outs. I don't know why neither do the Filipino but anyway today's brown out/blackout" lasted 15 hours and 35 minutes. The diesel generator was running on fumes when the power finally come back. Thought I was gonna have to go out there and switch over to the gas burner because my back won't tolerate a gas can full of Diesel.

If that diesel runs out, is it a pain to bleed the air out, and get it restarted?

I don't know Gene, I never had to deal with that situation. At least not with a small Chinese diesel like this one I dealt with it one time in a big semi truck. :?

NORECO just announced another outage this coming weekend that will start at 7 AM in the morning and last until 7 AM the next morning. I don't have enough or even big enough fuel pans to run that generator for 24 hour. Marlene is off with her Alaska girlfriends for a 10 day fun trip wherever they go. It's been mentioned as a trip to Pawan.
When the cat's away the mouse will play, especially if the lights are out. ;) :)
Maria just now said that they revised their outage schedule. Norco is now saying that the outage is only gonna last from six in the morning until noon. Hopi do. The mouse will still have plenty of time to play. :P

The generac we have runs off of propane. We have a 500 gallon tank. We have only added gas to it once in our 8 years here

Can you get the Generacs there? ours is as 16KW, and a 200-250 gallon LPG tank would run it a long, long time for you. They will also run off of Natural gas. Not sure if that is available.

I think the smaller Generacs are up to $5,000-6,000 now. It was about $4,000 when we put ours in.

Wish you could get that issue resolved.
