First trip to the VA

Post by Jim @ Jawa »

Was for a dental appointment. Two hours in a chair, six fillings and a promise to try to get the rest of them.
Also told me that one of my molars need to get removed because it's beyond repair. You know when people call me an asshole they might not be very wrong because of the odder. :D ;)
Good morning to you guys. I can see the smile on your face faces.
You guys stay safe and as happy as this life will allow.

I went in for a cleaning and exam. $211. of course they found a little one that needs a filling, so that is $200. Then I had one broken on the back side. It looks oK from the front, but kinda split. Doesn't hurt, doesn't cause any problems. He wanted $900 to fix that one. I told him to leave it, because if they ever had to identify my body by dental records, I wanted to make it easy on them.

Btw, Jim - how many times a year do you travel for your medical appointments?

I took my Dad to all his appointments in the VA hospital in San Juan, a wonderful place I have to say.

They got 4 more fillings last week and removed that busted up molar, yesterday.
It took two men, some heavy equipment and one and a half hours. To get that molar.
Thank goodness for hydrocodone. Makes me smile. :D

Good morning back at you, forgive the late reply.
My trips to get the FREE VA medical are booked for 3 mounts each year. Once a year every year.
Air fair; (Cost is about $8,400.00 round trip) for both of us.
Hotels; (Cost is round $4,000.00).
Apartment in Seattle; (Cost is round $13,000.00) for 3 months fully furnished.
Food groceries and restaurants; (Cost is round $3,500.00) for 3 months, that is only about 3 to 5 restaurant visits a month.
Transportation; (Cost is round $300.00)
Entreatment; (Cost is round $100.00)
Free VA annual cost takes us the rest of the year to save up and it takes every dollar.
These Seattle visits are about to come to an end because of the cost of living in Seattle. I see the reason why there are so many homeless here living in tents. It is because of the cost to rent on a minimum wage.
I am very close to being finically forced to just let old age illness turn me in to dirt. When that happens I will miss you guys. ;) 8-)

Patria,
I also fly to Manila once a year. There is the cost of airfare and a cost of two nights in a hotel and the other living expenses that come along with it. That expense is in the neighborhood of $2,500.00. Anybody that thinks the VA medical is free has allowed the US government the stuff, their heads up their asses. I used to think driving 85 miles into Anchorage was expensive that is until I moved to the Philippines. ;)
